Origin

Yuka was born on Valentine's Day to an average family. Her parents were photographers and travelers and fell in love with Japanese culture. When planning for baby names, they had written down the name 優花 (Yūka) which translates to excellence, superiority, gentlenes (yu/) and flower, blossom (ka/). They moved to Japan permanently when Yuka was 16.

Backstory

Yuka grew up in a regular lower middle class family and attended elementary and middle school in the United States before her family moved to Japan when she began her first year of highschool. Growing up she heard so many different things about Japan and her parents tried to get her involved with the culture as well. Yuka never really shared the same interest that her family seemed to have with the country, and she never particularily enjoyed her name either. She always felt her parents set her up for impossible expectations with the meaning of the first kanji in her name "yu". The town they had moved to was a quiet city named Morioh. Yuka never noticed anything off about the town and considered it to be quite peaceful although deep down she knew she never really enjoyed growing up with such a culture obsessed family.

Yuka always felt a bit off and out of her element being a foreigner in such a small Japanese town so she never pushed herself to make any friends, nor do much outside of school. She struggled with speaking the language, but found it was easier to write in it so if she ever did have a conversation with her peers or faculty, she'd wind up writing down what she wanted to say with pen and paper (selective mutism). Some students and faculty who knew a good chunk of English would speak to her in her native language which would pull her out of her mutism, but of course not everyone knew English well so she usually didn't leave her home without a notebook she could write in and multiple pens.

!! Possible changes in the future for stand backstory !!

Stand manifestation: Yuka had finished her senior classes for the day from the small highschool she attended in Morioh and had decided to take a short stroll through town before she would go home for the day. While on her stroll she had noticed some commotion going on and could recognize one of the voices one of her underclassmen, Josuke Higashikata, whom she had only recognized because he was well-known from school. She had noticed two other students, but didn't know them quite as well.

For some odd reason she couldn't tell what they were doing. It seemed like witchcraft to her because Josuke was, from what she thought, teleporting over and over again. She couldn't exactly yell out to them to understand what was going because she was frozen due to her flight or fight response kicking in. Before she knew it, she had saw the shorter student seemingly bleed out from his throat without warning (bow and arrow). Fear slowly trickling in from witnessing such a gruesome scene without a source to the wound, she attempted to run from the scene. She had heard some shouting from behind her, but she couldn't make out what it was before she felt a sensation starting from the back of her neck and out her throat.

Yuka doesn't recall much of what happened after receiving her wound, but comes to back inside of her home. She was left unaware from her new power until she started to notice strange "ghosts" appearing around town and ended up manifesting her stand and slowly learning its abilities.

Personality

Yuka tends to keep to herself and doesn't speak much in her hometown of Morioh. She is more introverted and is prone to going insane/having a mental break due to her not socializating properly and her tendency to be emotional and listen to her heart more than her brain in situations that aren't academic.

If she were to be approached by someone new, she wouldn't mind talking with them, but tries to avoid it the best she can since she chooses to communicate with notebook and pen. She manages to learn how to speak more properly in Japanese with time, but has spent the last 3 years writing it that she prefers that method to speak.

Yuka tends to be more emotional than logical which prevents herself from furthering her own potential for her future and for her stand's sake. She tried her hardest in school to try to make her parents "happy", but she constantly feels like a let down and failure.

Yuka doesn't have many hobbies besides the love of researching things.

Stand

Name Virtual Insanity (Yuka shortens it to just V.I.)

Stand Type Artificial

Stats

  • Power A
  • Speed B
  • Range B
  • Durability C
  • Precision B
  • Developmental Potential B

Ability V.I. can produce its own electromagnetic waves ranging from radio waves to gamma rays. V.I. can either use its own waves for attacking, or use technology in the nearby vicinity to attack.

  • Radiowaves - Little L Uses radiowaves enough to create fatigue, small burns, small tissue damage, and can cause headaches. Depending on the amount of waves produced, the symptoms range from mild to severe.
  • Microwaves - Canned Heat Uses microwaves to heat up the water in other stand user's bodies enough to create burns to surface on the skin.
  • Infared - Falling The infared waves created by V.I. can make other stand users loose their balance (potentially fall) and can increase the likliness of fainting.
  • Ultraviolet - Space Cowboy Using ultraviolet waves, V.I. can impair other stand users by slowly damaging their eyes. The waves produced can cause cataracts that give the stand user double vision, increases light sensitivity, and can cause blindness that ranges from temporary to permanent dependent on how the strength of the waves, and the duration the stand user is exposed.
  • X-Rays - Main Vein V.I. can't create enough x-ray waves in order to do significant damage, but this ability allows Yuka to be able to see any potential weaknesses of the other stand user and acts as a normal x-ray that would be used in a medical setting. The weaknesses that can be seen are mainly damage the stand user's body has taken either from the current battle, or damage they've taken in their lifetime.
  • Gamma Rays - Cosmic Girl V.I. can produce gamma rays that with enough time and power, can cause immediate decay of cells and rapidly spreads cancer throughout the remaining cells of the stand user. If V.I. does not produce enough for this to happen, then Cosmic Girl manipulates the stand user's dna ranging in different types of mutations to occur. If Yuka continued to further her skills with her stand, there is the potential for her to be able to manipulate stars and create gamma-ray bursts as a source for energy to make Cosmic Girl (or other abilites) instaneous and lethal.
  • If focused on any of the abilities listed above for long periods of time, this ability can rapidly increase the liklihood of Cosmic Girl being able to take effect sooner without much energy/resources needed.
  • Technology Manipulation - Love Foolosophy V.I. can either manifest its own rays itself, use technology that produces those rays to increase its power of waves V.I. creates, or use technology itself to attack another stand user.

Limitations

  • Creating waves V.I. cannot start off with Cosmic Girl by itself. In order to get to that ability, V.I. must build up to that level of electromagnetic wave. V.I. can skip around raio, micro, infared, ultraviolet, and x-rays without having to build up to the next level, but that skill won't be as powerful if V.I. takes the time to build up to each wave. The intensity of each level is dependent on the amount of time and waves used. The more technology used to create waves for any level will be more effective than V.I. creating the waves on its own.
  • Technology manipulation V.I. can only use machines/technology that its stand user (Yuka) understands how they work. If within V.I.'s range, there is a object Yuka understands (mobile phone, radio, microwave, tanning beds, etc) then she would be able to use that technology for V.I.. If there was a machine that Yuka had no understanding of (PET scanner, etc) then she could not use it for anything. If she wanted to use something in the future, then she would have to research and learn how the technology/machine worked.
  • General Yuka herself is her own limitation. Because she recently became a stand user (~1 year ago), she doesn't understand the full power of her stand. Therefore she doesn't use Cosmic Girl at this point in time.

Aesthetic/Clothes

Yuka

Yuka wears a monochrome outfit consisting of blacks, greys, and whites. She wears a dark grey cardigan with a white button down blouse under, black tie, a mid-thigh black skirt, white socks that go to her mid-shins, and simple black loafers. She tries to stay more inconspicuous with her clothes and the colors she wears, but has recently had trouble with becoming a stand user. She keeps her dyed black hair medium length with it hitting her collarbones and keeps it in a shaggy/messy hairstyle that is low maintenance. Her skin tone is a warm beige and her eyes are hazel.

V.I.

V.I. takes on the form of a robot that imitates what a wooden doll would look like, but has two "horns" at the top of the "head". These two "horns" have a visual repensentation of a wave inbetween and changes frequencies and types whenever V.I. creates different waves. Near where the "stomach" would be, there is a hole the size of a basketball where V.I. creates and sends out its electromagnetic waves from. The metal of the stand has a grey-blue tint and shimmers when hit with light.

Extra Info

  • Yuka hardly knows anything about stands because she didn't have anyone by her side to teach her, nor did she have the confidence to ask another stand user
  • Yuka sometimes summons her stand to practice her Japanese speaking skills even though it cannot talk back to her or give her feedback
  • Yuka wanted to attend college for economic and business studies, but stays on the "applicant" stage because she fears joining college while posessing a stand
